pink gold millgrain wedding band, what is millgraining

We are currently in our very busy season where everyone is placing stock orders for the Christmas and holiday seasons. I have been going to several of our independent retails across the country and always like to ask what is trending. During a recent visit I was told that millgrain was trending. What is Millgrain?A millgrain is a pattern. It is the small bumps that you see above on the side of the diamonds. The channel set wedding bands shown in 18K white gold, 18K yellow gold, and 14K rose/pink gold are eternity bands whose millgrain gives them a vintage feel. The bands can be made without the pattern, but it is a very different look. The millgrain can be put on two ways: it can be hand beaded by a diamond setter or hand engraver, or it can be put on by a millgrain machine. In the millgrain machine the ring is put on a lade and each side is done individually.

The millgrain on the sapphire wedding bands also gives them a vintage feel. It also gives the rings character and I think makes the sapphires look a little larger!

This millgrain on the engagement ring above can be found almost anywhere! The millgrain is under the bridge, on the sides, and outside the bead set diamonds!
