2. Be SpecificNext, you will need to provide specific data to help fine tune your design. This can be as simple as pointing to examples of stone sizes and shapes in your local jeweler's showcase or as complex as bringing them the item of jewelry you are trying to match so specific measurements can be taken. This will allow the manufacturer to build a CAD/CAM scale of your vision.3. ConfidenceAfter your idea is submitted and a scale rendering is completed in CAD/CAM, it is crucial that verbalize any changes that do not fit your vision. I remember back to my first year of college when I took my first fashion design course; I designed and amazing evening gown. When I showed it to the teacher and she said "great, but where's the zipper?" I had not thought of that. Similarly, what you may have envisioned may define the basic laws of jewelry construction and may require creative modifications to bring your design to life. Understanding this and asking for alternatives is perfectly acceptable.4. ApprovalAt Jabel we typically provide a wax version of the sample for approval. This will allow you to touch, handle and examine a 3-D version of your design prior to finishing it in the precious metal you select. If approved the design is translated into either platinum or gold, polished, set with the stones you have selected, finished with any required hand engraving and inspected for quality.ResultAt the end of the journey you will have a one-of-a-kind work of art that is a testament to your creativity. From shadow bands to unique remounts, original designs come in all shapes, sizes and designs. Start talking to your local jeweler about your ideas today!
