What Is Die Striking?Die striking is a process of jewelry manufacturing that uses an immense amount of pressure to form precious metal into a desired shape.What is the difference between Die Struck and Cast?Cast jewelry uses a low pressure mold method of making jewelry. It is more popular in today's market because it allows jewelry to be sold at a reduced price. This is due to its easy manufacturing methods and lower metal weight. However, compared to die struck jewelry it produces a product that is less durable. How is jewelry die struck?Two custom crafted pieces of steel, as pictured above, the hub (male) and the master die (female) are struck together with the gold or platinum between them to gently form the desired shape using as much as 50 tons of pressure.
