The holidays are a magical time of year, filled with glowing lights, festive decorations, and picture prefect back drops at every turn! It is the perfect time of year to propose. Here are some unique holiday proposal ideas to inspire your engagement!1. ThanksgivingThanksgiving is an unexpected time to propose, making it one of my favorite days to 'pop' the question. Not only will you both be dressed in your best, but you will be surrounded by friends and family to help you celebrate. Plus, you will have the full holiday season of Christmas parties and get-togethers to spread the wonderful news.
2. Christmas Tree FarmChristmas Tree Farms, like the Angevine Farm featured here, are wonderful places to propose. The back drop is literally as beautiful as a Christmas card. Plus, you can relive that special moment when you say 'Yes' every year when you come back to get your tree!
3. Christmas Card Photo ShootPhotographer Melissa McCrotty went viral with her engagement photographs of Kathryn and Lance. Kathryn thought they were just getting their Christmas card pictures taken, but Lance had other plans. He and Melissa had arranged an intimate photo session, capturing his beautiful proposal. Great idea!!!
4. Decorating The TreeI love this simple ornament from The Pearl Swan. Simply hang it on the tree with the ring inside and wait till it's found! Granted, you may have to lay some subtle hints to help find it, but it will be totally worth your while!
5. Romantic Trip To NYCNew York City is truly magical at Christmas, from the Rockettes to the tiniest cafe adorned with bows, lights, and ribbons. It is a proposal dream come true! Make your proposal public in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree or pick from any of a myriad of romantic restaurants.6. Work With Your Local Jeweler To Stage A Private Shopping Trip(Email us to find a local jeweler at info@jabel.com)This one will take some careful planning, but for a bride who is looking to be apart of the ring selection this is the perfect proposal. Instead of proposing with the ring, take your fiance-to-be to a lovely dinner and propose with the diamond. Then set up a private ring shopping appointment with your local jeweler to pick our their dream setting.
7. The Sleigh RideOne thing that you can always find at the holidays are country festivals with hayrides. Sure, sleigh rides may be more scenic, but snow is not always a holiday guarantee. Try a festival like the one featured here, the Bethlehem Connecticut Christmas Fair. Why not take a romantic weekend away and visit one of these event? Then arrange for the driver to make the 'last ride' of the night a private ride. During your ride you can have the privacy to say what ever is in your heart and propose. It will be the most magical ride of both your lives!
8. Hot Chocolate and A Movie NightSome of the best engagement stories are the ones that take place in yoga pants and sweat shirts. Instead of a big night out, have a movie night in! A few weeks before order mugs with "Will You Marry Me" printed at the bottom of the mug like these at Mommy's Coffee. Then just sip away until you hear the gasp. Plus, when you Instagram your engagement all you will need to do is take a picture of the bottom of your empty mug.
9 A Snow Globe proposalOn a crisp winter night, preferably when it's snowing, go for a romantic winter walk. Plan a route with a place to sit and bring a mystery box with you. Inside you will have a snow globe, like this one from Things Remember, with "Will You Marry Me" inscribed on it. The keepsake will be a treasure for years to come.10 The 'Nutcracker' ProposalMany children were raised with the story of the Nutcracker during the holidays. If you are not familiar, let me fill you. A young girl, Clara, is given a magical gift of a nutcracker by her godfather, Uncle Drosselmeyer. The nutcracker magically comes to life and she has the most wonderful, magical, romantic, and sugarplum-dream-filled night of her life. You can turn this into a dream-like proposal by taking your fiance-to-be to a local production and have the performer of Uncle Drosselmeyer leap off the stage during curtain call and present the two of you with a special box (front row seats will help). When your fiance opens the box, get down on one knee and propose.
